As part of the new content for @GoaliePost, this article will give an overview of possible upcoming spot goalie starts for your fantasy team this weekend. Sometimes, we all need a goalie to try to turn the tide on goalie stats in an effort to win! That’s where this article comes in.

If you are in the aforementioned predicament, we are here to help you out! Fortunately, there are seven teams with back-to-back games this weekend on Saturday, January 20 and Sunday, January 21. These teams are:

Anaheim Ducks - SJS(Away) and NYR(Home)

Dallas Stars - NJD(Away) and NYI(Away)

New York Rangers - LAK(Away) and ANA(Away)

Ottawa Senators - WPG(Home) and PHI(Away)

Philadelphia Flyers - COL(Home) and OTT(Home)

Tampa Bay Lightning - BUF(Away) and DET(Away)

Toronto Maple Leafs - VAN(Away) and SEA(Away)

Based on these seven teams with back-to-backs, we will recommend some of the best possible spot starts that could materialize as follows:

Anaheim Ducks at San Jose Sharks: More than likely John Gibson is owned in your league. But, Lukas Dostal (38% owned on Fantrax) might not be. If he gets the start against a struggling San Jose team, he is an excellent option. Dostal has a 0.900 Save%, 108 saves, and one win in the past 14 days. This was in four games played. There is a good chance for the win with shot volume for saves.

New York Rangers at Anaheim Ducks: If Jonathan Quick (47% owned on Fantrax) gets the call here, he is a decent option. Quick has struggled a bit over the past 14 days, posting a 0.882 Save%, 45 saves, and zero wins. The Rangers and Ducks both play back-to-back, so Quick would be a good bet for a win if he starts.

Philadelphia Flyers versus Ottawa Senators: Samuel Ersson started Thursday versus the Dallas Stars, winning 5-1. Thus there is a good chance he starts the second half of the back-to-back at home versus Ottawa. Ersson (45% owned on Fantrax) has been outstanding over the past 14 days, posting a 0.957 Save%, 66 saves, three wins, and one shutout. The Senators have struggled the past 14 days, going 2-4 with 3.67 goals for and 4.50 goals against. They have averaged 34.8 SOG during that period as well. Ottawa’s 6-2 win Thursday night skews these stats a bit, and it was against the Montreal Canadiens. Ersson might let a few goals go in, but the volume should be there as well as a good chance for a win.

As stated by Bobby in his article, I would avoid starting the Senators goalies. They have a home matchup against the Winnipeg Jets and an away matchup against the Flyers and they have struggled recently as noted in his article.

I would also avoid the Toronto Maples Leafs goalies this weekend as well. The have two road games against a Vancouver Canucks team on fire, as well as the Seattle Kraken. The Kraken have struggled, but I do not like the Maple Leafs goalies on the road in a back-to-back matchups.
