Weekend Waiver Wire

Welcome fantasy managers to another edition of the Weekend Waiver Wire. I hope that you all had a phenomenal start to your fantasy seasons as it relates to the goaltending position and we’re lucky enough to snipe that netminder off the waiver wire to help you take down your respective weeks! Let’s have a look at some options off the wire going into week two of the fantasy season.

Joonas Korpisalo - Boston Bruins (0% owned on Yahoo)

The Bruins are playing some pretty solid defense to start the year and have in large part supported both goaltenders admirably. All that being said, I’m not jumping at the opportunity to add Korpisalo this weekend with potential opponents in the Colorado Avalanche (Sat.) or the Utah Mammoth (Sun.). The Avalanche have been shot out of a cannon to start the year while the Mammoth have a bevy of offensive talent throughout the lineup. I’m not buying and neither should you.

Calvin Pickard - Edmonton Oilers (20% owned on Yahoo)

If there is one guy I’m targeting this weekend it’s Pickard. The Oilers are playing some excellent hockey to begin the 2025-2026 campaign, in particular on the defensive end. Edmonton’s 1.33 goals against has them leading the league in that department all the while employing two of the games best offensive players. It’s either a matchup against the New Jersey Devils (Sat.) or the Detroit Red Wings on (Sun.). Regardless of the matchup, I would roster Pickard with confidence.

Jesper Wallsteadt - Minnesota Wild (0% owned on Yahoo)

Minnesota should be rolling out Filip Gustavsson for their Friday tilt against the Washington Capitals which would then leave backup Jesper Wallsteadt to face the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday night. The Flyers are not generating much offensively while giving up the sixth most shots against per game (33), combine that with Minnesota's deadly power play and one can see where Wallsteadt could be a sneaky pickup,off the wire. This is a decent landing spot for Wallsteadt, if he’s available, it's a solid add.

Jonas Johansson - Tampa Bay Lightning (0% owned on Yahoo)

The Lightning find themselves on the road to close out the week with matchups against the Detroit Red Wings on Friday as well as a date with the up and coming Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday. Truthfully, I just do not have much confidence in Johansson behind that Tampa Bay defense. In this instance, I’ll just simply pass.

Alex Nedeljkovic - San Jose Sharks (0% owned on Yahoo)

Could this be a revenge game for “Ned” as one would think he would get the chance to face his former team the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday. All that being, if you find yourself in a bit of a jam without many options, Nedeljkovic could potentially be a sneaky play here. The Penguins are more vulnerable than in years past, while the Sharks boast some of the league's top young talent. San Jose could surprise here.
