Weekend Waiver Wire

Welcome fantasy managers to another edition of the Weekend Waiver Wire. It is time once again to take a look at what goaltenders may be available as a streaming option this weekend to help you take down your fantasy matchups.

Jonathan Quick - New York Rangers (7% owned on Yahoo / 14% owned on Fantrax)

In sporting a tidy 3-1 record with a 1.26 goals against and .950 save percentage, Jonathan Quick is a must add heading into the weekend. Favorable matchups against the Columbus Blue Jackets and Detroit Red Wings combined with the Rangers defensive play to start the year, offers fantasy managers a solid streaming option for New York’s back-to-back this weekend.

John Gibson - Detroit Red Wings (30% owned on Yahoo / 51% owned on Fantrax)

Cam Talbot - Detroit Red Wings (17% owned on Yahoo / 41% owned on Fantrax)

In speaking of The Detroit Red Wings, both John Gibson and Cam Talbot could be viable options for the team's upcoming back-to-back. Gibson is currently sporting a losing record of 4-5 with an inflated 3.15 goals against and .882 save percentage while Talbot’s numbers are slightly better with a 5-2 record accompanied by a 2.92 goals against and .890 save percentage. Neither goaltender is going to knock your socks off but with a matchup on Saturday against the lowly Buffalo Sabres certainly will have fantasy managers thinking twice about the Wings duo as a streaming option.

Jesper Wallstedt - Minnesota Wild (13% owned on Yahoo / 44% owned on Fantrax)

The Minnesota Wild have been rather inconsistent to begin the year, however, Jesper Wallstedt has been a pleasant surprise for fantasy managers as the talented netminder is solidifying his role as the team's full-time backup. Wallstedt currently owns a 3-0-2 record with a solid 2.52 goals against and .909 save percentage including one shutout. It will be a tall task for Wallstedt as he will draw either the Anaheim Ducks on Saturday or the Vegas Golden Knights on Sunday but with such parody in the league just about any team can come out on top on any given night.

Dan Vladar - Philadelphia Flyers (30% owned on Yahoo / 45% owned on Fantrax)

Sam Ersson - Philadelphia Flyers (3% owned on Yahoo / 30% owned on Fantrax)

Dan Vladar has been a revelation for the Philadelphia Flyers this year as the former Calgary Flame continues to cement his status as the Flyers go to option in goal. Fantasy managers should follow suit as Vladar has fashioned a 6-3-1 record to go along with a superb 2.15 goals against and .919 save percentage. Meanwhile, Sam Ersson has had his struggles to start the year going 2-1-2 with a 3.03 goals against and .864 save percentage, not exactly the type of peripheral numbers to get excited about but if your format is weighted more towards wins then Ersson value would increase slightly.

Joel Hofer - St-Louis Blues (7% owned on Yahoo / 28% owned on Fantrax)

The Blues have been a mess so far this year and Joel Hofer’s numbers certainly indicate that as the 25-year old has put together a rather pedestrian 2-3-1 record accompanied by a brutal 4.05 goals against and .865 save percentage. The team’s defensive play has been horrible with St-Louis owning the league's second worst goals against per game at 3.76. In my humble opinion, there are much more viable options to be had, I would steer clear of the Blues in this situation.

Jonas Johansson - Tampa Bay Lightning (2% owned on Yahoo / 11% owned on Fantrax)

The 6’5” 220lbs Swede is enjoying a great start to the campaign having put together a solid if unspectacular 3-1 record with a 2.83 goals against and .913 save percentage. Johansson looks to be in line for a start against the Vancouver Canucks who have given up the fifth most goals against per game at 3.50, which plays right into Tampa's quick strike offense. If Johansson does indeed draw the start against the Canucks, I would take a long look.

Akira Schmid - Vegas Golden Knights (38% owned on Yahoo / 57% owned on Fantrax)

Carl Lindbom - Vegas Golden Knights (3% owned on Yahoo / 14% owned on Fantrax)

A back-to-back set against the St-Louis Blues and Minnesota Wild make for a pretty solid streaming option for either Akira Schmid or backup goaltender Carl Lindbom. Vegas may be on a three game losing skid, however don’t let that cloud your judgement in adding either netminder to your roster this weekend. A great opportunity to take advantage of from a fantasy perspective as both should be winnable games regardless of which goaltender you decide to choose.

There you have it folks, some streaming options to consider for your fantasy squad heading into the weekend.
