Monday Morning Ramblings featuring Andersen, Bussi, Allen, Ingram, Jarry, Skinner, Shesterkin, Quick, and Ullmark

Danish veteran Frederik Andersen has turned around his game in 2026, with 4 wins in his last 5 starts. His save percentage is still sub 0.900% (0.883% to be precise) but he is re-gaining the coach's trust and hence getting the crease more often.

Since the beginning of March, Carolina's goaltending has been sub 0.900% with Bussi and Andersen alternating starts. Bussi 1-2, 0.825% has faltered in his last few showings, whereas Andersen is having a renaissance, at least in the wins column 3-1, his save percentage (0.859%) better than Bussi's but still below average.

Kochetkov's earliest possible return, after hip surgery in December, may be early in the upcoming playoffs. Carolina has a 99.97% chance of making the playoffs.

Jake Allen has been getting fewer starts post Olympics: In the 9 games the Devils have played, Allen has only started 2. Allen stopped 27 of 31 shots (0.871%) in a comeback 6-4 win against the Kings, but preceding that win, he was 0-4.

Markstrom has played well since representing Sweden, allowing just 19 goals in 7 games, and is being leaned on heavily. He started and completed back to back games on March 3 and 4, and then AGAIN on March 7 and 8. There are even Devils podcasts discussing the disappearance of Jake Allen. New Jersey has a 0.3% chance of making the playoffs, and a 4.7% chance of drafting 1st overall.

Breaking news from Coach Knoblauch who has declared Connor Ingram the starter. Ingram responded with a splendid outing against the Predators stopping 26 of 27 shots (0.963%) in a 3-1 win.

Overall, Ingram has been average at best posting a 0.871% in February and a 0.897% in March. He is 4-3-1 in his last 9 games. Declaring Ingram the starter has more to do with Jarry's incompetent play, who has a horrendous 0.811% post Olympics.

The trade with the Penguins has enormously backfired on the Oilers management who are stuck with Jarry and his albatross contract for another 2 years.

The stats aren't much better for the entirety of his Oilers tenure, where he sports a 0.855% and a 4.17 GAA since his debut on December 13, 2025. The Oilers have a 77% chance of making the playoffs in the lowly Pacific Division.

It appears as if Ingram will get a run, and Jarry will earn some starts when he looks better in practice. There is also another option if Ingram also struggles - Calvin Pickard who is 1-2-1 with the Bakersfield Condors (0.883% in 4 games).

After a strong January, former Oilers goalie Stuart Skinner, has only 1 win in February and March combined. He is 1-1-4 including 3 shootout losses and an overtime loss.

The Penguins have racked up a league leading 15 loser points (tied with the Kings). The Penguins have a 77.8% chance of making the playoffs.

Malkin and Crosby have been skating but there is no immediate return in the books. The top line now boasts Chinakhov with Rakell and Rust.

The Rangers have pulled off 6 wins in their last 8 games thanks to an offense that has awakened with 36 goals (4.5 goals per game). J.Quick has returned to the backup role with Shesterkin healthy, and even locked in a 4-0 shutout against the Flames on March 10.

Shesterkin is 5-0-2 in his last 7, and has saved 208 of 227 shots (0.916%) through February and March combined. Other than Panarin choosing to head to California, GM Drury didn't make significant changes at the trade deadline.

Vincent Trocheck remained in New York, and only Sam Carrick and Brennan Othman were subtracted from the Rangers roster. The Rangers have virtually no chance at making the playoffs, so this win streak is only putting a damper on a high draft pick come June. The Rangers have a 7.6% chance of nabbing the 1st overall pick.

Linus Ullmark has also allowed 23 goals throughout February and March, making 183 saves on 206 shots (0.889%), just slightly below league average: 0.896%.

The Senators are facing a must win from here on out. They have a 58.8% chance of making the playoffs. Linus Ullmark is being given all he can handle with a heavy workload - 8 of 9 starts post Olympics - including back to back starts on Saturday and Sunday.

The only game Ullmark didn't start post-Olympics went to 37 year old James Reimer. He was given an easy matchup to chew on against the Vancouver Canucks, and feast he did, walking away with a 16 save shutout, the 32nd of his career. Ullmark is 6-1-2 in his last 8 games.

One quick non goalie note to end off: Fantasy GMs were wondering about John Carlson's deployment with Anaheim. Well, he finally made his Ducks debut in a 4-3 win against Montreal on Sunday night. Carlson was paired with Zellweger at even strength. On the power play the Ducks went with two mixed units:

One unit had Leo Carlsson, Kreider, Terry, Trouba, and John Carlson (1:18 TOI). The other unit had Gauthier, Sennecke, Granlund, Killorn, and Lacombe (0:42 TOI). The talent appears to be split on both units, we will have to wait and see if there is a clear cut #1 unit in terms of time on ice, or is Anaheim going with a timeshare.
