Good morning, good afternoon, and good evening readers. My name is Logan C and I am very excited to be able to bring you guys the Monday goalie ramblings here on GoaliePost. I will be here every second monday to drop some useful info and news for your fantasy teams. Feel free to blame me exclusively for all the bad starts, streams, and take every credit to yourselves for the good ones. Only sort of kidding.

Edmonton Oilers precarious situation in net behind Stuart Skinner

Earlier this season Jack Campbell may not have been able to win your men’s league team a game. He seems to be a great guy outside of the game so it was painful to watch. Oilers fans now have something else to be scared of. His possible return. In his last 11 starts for the AHL Bakersfield Condors he has a 8-3-0 record and a .915 save percentage to go along with one shutout. If that doesn't scream at you for a Ken Holland face saving recall I'm not sure what would. Considering the Oilers tried their best to bring him back to the big squad not that long ago, it's still a possibility.

There are a couple things working against him though. One being Calvin Pickard’s decent numbers even with a scarce workload as a backup. Pickard has a 4-2-0 record with a .902 save percentage. On top of that, the Oilers are saving 1.15 million in cap space with Campbell in the minors. Pickard is at 762K and simply sending him down doesn't create enough space not to mention he would need to clear waivers. If the call up doesn’t come I think it's safe to say his time in Edmonton has come to a close. Buy out? Trade? Only time will tell.

On the other side of the (oil) well, there looks to be something real there in Stuart Skinner. Skinner has hiked up his drawers in the last few months after a rough start and has gone a ridiculous 17-2-0 in his last 19 games, putting up a .932 save percentage. He may need some additional help via trade to keep him fresh come mid april but it's exceedingly rare to trade for a good goaltender at the deadline and it doesn't work out often. Yes we all remember Dwayne Roloson in 2006, and that is the exception not the rule. I have Skinner ranked in my top four goalies for the second half of the year and think he continues the heavy workload comfortably.

Small side note on the Oilers is the play of Olivier Rodrigue for the AHL Bakersfield Condors. He has shown well with a 7-3-3 record and a .926 save percentage which is good for 4th in the league currently. Might be time to get this guy the bulk of the starts down there in Bako to see what they've got for next year.

Las Vegas Knights getting some help back in goal amongst injuries up front

Adin Hill

Adin Hill joined the Las Vegas Knights for their morning skate Thursday. On their upcoming road trip he appears to be in line to make his first start since December 17th against the Ottawa Senators. He was returning from a seven game absence due to injury in that game as well when he left after letting in one goal on three shots for a dazzling .667. Let's all hope that we don't see a repeat performance of that. Hill was one of the stars of the early season in most league setups, sporting a sparkling 10-2-2 record and a .933 save percentage. He may be in a little tougher to keep those kinds of numbers going since it was announced last week that Jack Eichel had knee surgery (4-6 weeks) and Shea Theodore is still week-to-week. William Karlsson is expected back after the all-star break however. Look for Hill to regain 1A status. Logan Thompson has improved his numbers in the last few weeks but I always follow the money when it comes to goaltending starts and Hill was just paid handsomely this offseason.

Minnesota Wild celebrations and cease fires

Marc-andre Fleury passed Patrick Roy on the all-time wins list with 552. I can barely count that high since I only have eleven fingers. He did it in style with a 5-0 shutout over the New York Islanders. Congrats Flower. He hasn't been the best fantasy option this year although over his last 14 starts he has posted a 5-5-1 record with a .912 save percentage. Fleury was injured on Friday after taking a knock behind the net against Florida. He is day-to-day with an upper body injury.

On the other side of the coin Jesper Wallstedt made his long awaited debut in the NHL and it was one the whole Wild organization has probably already forgotten. He let in seven goals on 34 shots and finished with a .794 save percentage. I'm sure he will be a fine goalie in the future so no need to panic for you dynasty league people. Wallstedt was recalled Saturday to replace Fleury due to his injury.

Filip Gustavson returned on Jan 13th from injury and in his next two starts he allowed 12 goals on 56 shots. Not ideal. He did however follow it up with 40 saves in a 5-2 win against the Carolina Hurricanes Sunday. It may be a good idea to fade Wild goalies for the foreseeable future if you can as their number one D man Jared Spurgeon has also just had season ending surgery.

Ending notes/ Waiver wire

Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen - Buffalo Sabres

What is that, five O's or two U's? Well actually, as of Friday in his last two games it's two zeroes and two W's. Forgive the awful and obscure movie reference. But in all seriousness 6K, as he is aptly called around the league, has been heating up and looks to be the goalie of the moment and possibly beyond for this young Sabres team after posting two straight shutouts this week and starting four of the last five games. You could do far worse than him currently and I would prioritize him on the waiver wire. Luukkonen is currently only 40% owned on Yahoo.

Nico Daws - New Jersey Devils

Nico Daws has now started four of the last six games for the Devils and has been handling it okay. He can get you some wins behind this New Jersey team at the least. Daws is 18% owned on Yahoo.

Samuel Ersson - Philadelphia Flyers

Ersson has been trading starts with Carter Hart in Philly since Hart has been back from injury and then illness, and he has more than held his own. The Flyers are showing no sign of slowing down on their recent torrid pace. Ride the hot hand people. Ersson was 43% owned on Yahoo before his start Sunday.

Jake Oettinger/ Scott Wedgewood - Dallas Stars

Something caught my eye in Dallas this weekend, Scott wedgewood started both games of a back-to-back. It was reported after the game Sunday that Jake Oettinger was ill. Oettinger previously started four games straight after returning from an injury he suffered in mid December.
