Good day fantasy hockey world, @KINGTUNA4 here with this week's goalie ramblings. I am going to look at a couple of hot goalies. I will also look at a couple of favourable matchups over the next week and I will have a look at the injury ward. We also had a goalie fight, which is one of my favourite things to witness.
*
Even though we had a bye week and all-star break, a couple of goalies came out of it still on fire and look to continue that into their next few starts.
Carey Price of the Montreal Canadiens has been on a hot streak over his last eight games having 6 quality starts over that time. The Canadiens chose to use him in back to back games this weekend as they try and claw their way back into the playoff race. Price had a decent game on Sunday allowing three goals on 26 shots in a loss to Columbus. He was much better Saturday against the high powered offense of the Florida Panthers. He stopped all 29 shots for his third shutout of the season. Price is having an up and done type season but if the Canadiens plan to be anywhere near the playoffs down the stretch they will need Price at his best over the last two months of the season.
Saturday also saw a great performance from Henrik Lundqvist of the New York Rangers as he posted his first shutout of the season against the Detroit Red Wings. Lundqvist has had a bit of a rough go of it this season but he is still doing decently in the quality start category having 13 quality starts in 26 games played. He has only had three really bad starts showing he still has a bit of fire left in him. It\'s hard not to root for a guy like Henrik but his time as a fantasy relevant goalie may be in the past. Cautiously use him when he has a strong matchup like the one against the Red Wings.
Tuukka Rask of the Boston Bruins came back from his time off nursing a head injury like he had never missed a game. Rask had a very strong game back against the Winnipeg Jets where he allowed just one goal on 38 shots. Rask is having another very strong season this year and I think rest has been a big part of it. As much as I as a Rask owner would like to see him in net more, it looks like alternating games with Jaroslav Halak has been the smart play this season as Rask still looks quite strong this late in the season. I do expect Rask to get a bit more of an increased workload as the Bruins try and fight off the LIghtning for top spot in the Atlantic.

This week we are back to a full slate of games after everyone has had their bye week. This week we have 12 teams playing four games so lots of matchups to choose from. Here are a couple of key teams that I think will have a great week.
I would expect Philipp Grubauer and the Colorado Avalanche to have a great week. The Avalanche first face the Buffalo Sabres where, in nine games Grubauer has eight quality starts and a record of 5-1-2. He has a sparkling save percentage of .957 and a goal against average of 1.15. Then the Avalanche move on to Ottawa where they will play the basement dwelling Senators. In five games against them, Grubauer has three wins. Later in the week you might want to sit Grubauer when they face the Blue Jackets. In five career games Grubauer has never won allowing almost three goals per game. The Avalanche will finish off the week in Minnesota where he has been decent in five games with three quality starts. Overall I think it will be a good week for the Avalanche and Grubauer.
Frederik Andersen and the Toronto Maple Leafs play four games this week and it starts off against the Florida Panthers who destroyed them in their last match up. Over Andersen\'s last ten games against the Panthers he has just two really bad starts and a winning record of 6-1-2. Then the Leafs move onto a road game against the New York Rangers where Andersen hasn\'t fared as well but does have five wins in ten games. Then the Anaheim Ducks come to town for Andersen to face his old team. In four games against his old team Andersen has two wins. We may see Michael Hutchinson against the Ducks and see Andersen face the Montreal Canadiens in a Saturday road match. Andersen has won six of his last seven games against the Canadiens so this may be the better match up for him. If the Leafs look to stay in third this week they will need excellent play from both Andersen and Hutchinson. I say they do it so start them both with confidence.

Now is the moment we look at the injury ward. We did see a couple of injured goalies return but there were also a couple of new injuries to report.
Tuukka Rask returned to action after missing almost two weeks with a concussion. He came back with a strong outing as mentioned above.
Jonathan Bernier had missed the Detroit Red Wings last seven games before returning to action against the New York Rangers. Bernier was great in his return allowing just one goal on 30 shots in a losing effort.
Linus Ullmark left the net for the Buffalo Sabres last Tuesday with a little less than 10 minutes left in the game. It looks like he suffered a leg injury and will be out a minimum three to four weeks. Expect Carter Hutton to get the brunt of the starts until Ullmark returns.
Carter Hart of the Philadelphia Flyers is still dealing with an abdominal issue and has at least another week to go before he will make his return.
Joonas Korpisalo of the Columbus Blue Jackets is traveling with the team on this road trip but could still be a little ways out as he is only four weeks post surgery and his timeframe to return was four to six weeks. There is no need to rush Korpisalo as Elvis has been playing great in his absence.

I know I am supposed to say fighting in sports is dangerous and blah blah blah. Maybe I am old school or its the fact I am not the one getting punched in the face but I still think fighting has a place in hockey and I love when two goalies come together for a clash. This Saturday we saw a goalie fight and it was Edmonton's Mike Smith versus Calgary's Cam Talbot. Seeing Mike Smith temper in the past I would not want to mess with him but Talbot answered the call and unfortunately for Talbot he got his bell rung. See below for the glorious tilt.
In a somewhat surprising move, Barry Trotz was relieved of his coaching duties by the New York Islanders on Monday morning. The Isles had a disappointing season, but Trotz has typically done an excellent job everywhere he's gone and it remains to be seen who they bring in as a replacement and how that might impact the team.
Very quietly, Kaapo Kahkonen has put together a nice string of games since joining the San Jose Sharks. Kahkonen has now posted a save percentage above .
It's not uncommon to head into the weekend in your weekly matchup just trailing in a few of the goalie categories. Picking up a goalie is a must for many fantasy general managers hoping to chase down categories like wins, saves, and save percentage.
In the never-ending tug of war that is the battle for the Washington Capitals net, Ilya Samsonov gained an edge recently, starting four of the past six games. Samsonov won three of those outings but his numbers still weren't great and he eventually got pulled in his most recent start.
It's not uncommon to head into the weekend in your weekly matchup just trailing in a few of the goalie categories. Picking up a goalie is a must for many fantasy general managers hoping to chase down categories like wins, saves, and save percentage.
Carey Price is ramping up his practices and it feels like he could make a return to the ice this season. I don't think he'll really have any value for the fantasy playoffs, but he could be an interesting keeper option depending on how things play out in the offseason.
It's not uncommon to head into the weekend in your weekly matchup just trailing in a few of the goalie categories. Picking up a goalie is a must for many fantasy general managers hoping to chase down categories like wins, saves, and save percentage.
Could Vitek Vanecek's week have gone any worse? The Washington Capitals only played Monday and Sunday, with Vanecek giving up nine goals on 41 shots in the two losses. This week's schedule won't get any easier, as the Caps play Tampa, Pittsburgh and Boston.
It's not uncommon to head into the weekend in your weekly matchup just trailing in a few of the goalie categories. Picking up a goalie is a must for many fantasy general managers hoping to chase down categories like wins, saves, and save percentage.
Igor Shesterkin has set such a high standard for his play this season that even a few off nights really stand out. The New York Rangers netminder has given up at least four goals in three of his past six games, seeing his save percentage plummet to .

The biggest goalie on the block was dealt Monday, as well as a few other interesting names between the pipes. Let's have a look at the fantasy impact of all the goaltending moves that went down at this year's trade deadline.
Trade Deadline Day is here and there are plenty of goalies that could potentially be on the move, which will ultimately impact their fantasy value. The biggest name available is obviously Marc-Andre Fleury and his value will likely get a boost if he's dealt because he's only going to a contender.
It's not uncommon to head into the weekend in your weekly matchup just trailing in a few of the goalie categories. Picking up a goalie is a must for many fantasy general managers hoping to chase down categories like wins, saves, and save percentage.
Connor Hellebuyck has arguably been the most disappointing goalie this fantasy hockey season and things are starting to bottom out. The Winnipeg Jets netminder was likely the second goalie taken in a number of drafts last fall, but he's failed to provide the value worthy of a selection that high.
It's not uncommon to head into the weekend in your weekly matchup just trailing in a few of the goalie categories. Picking up a goalie is a must for many fantasy general managers hoping to chase down categories like wins, saves, and save percentage.
I\'m sure many people have dropped Jordan Binnington since Ville Husso has gone on a surge and taken over the net, and while that move could be justified, it's important not to forget Binnington will still have some value. The St.

It's very rare that a goaltender wins the Hart Trophy, but Igor Shesterkin is making an excellent case this year. Shesterkin's save percentage is up to a whopping .

Things have taken quite a turn in the Vegas crease, as Robin Lehner is apparently dealing with a shoulder injury. There were even some rumblings that the Golden Knights were interested in a reunion with Marc-Andre Fleury, but for now it's Laurent Brossoit's net and he's someone you should be adding if you get the chance.
It's not uncommon to head into the weekend in your weekly matchup just trailing in a few of the goalie categories. Picking up a goalie is a must for many fantasy general managers hoping to chase down categories like wins, saves, and save percentage.
It was a disappointing conclusion for those that stashed Tuukka Rask. The Boston Bruins netminder abruptly retired after four games into a comeback attempt from offseason hip surgery, leaving many fantasy GMs scrambling for a replacement.

Jack Campbell participated in his first All-Star game over the weekend, but his play really dropped off since the New Year. The Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender had an incredible start to the campaign, yet since Jan.
Everyone that stashed Tuukka Rask hasn't quite been rewarded the way they were hoping for just yet. The Boston Bruins netminder delivered a pair of quality starts since returning, but then gave up five goals in each of his other two games and is now dealing with a minor injury.
It's not uncommon to head into the weekend in your weekly matchup just trailing in a few of the goalie categories. Picking up a goalie is a must for many fantasy general managers hoping to chase down categories like wins, saves, and save percentage.
One of the more interesting questions for the second half of the season is what to do with Carter Hart? The Philadelphia Flyers netminder is having a bounceback season, but his team is not. Philly has two separate 10-game losing streaks this year and are rarely able to give Hart much goal support.
It's not uncommon to head into the weekend in your weekly matchup just trailing in a few of the goalie categories. Picking up a goalie is a must for many fantasy general managers hoping to chase down categories like wins, saves, and save percentage.
Adin Hill is finally starting to have some value this season. The San Jose Sharks goaltender lost the net to James Reimer at one point this year, but lately with Reimer sidelined, Hill has been able to string a bunch of solid games together.

If there was any debate on whether Andrei Vasilevskiy is the best goalie in the world, it was put to rest last week. Vasilevskiy found himself in Covid protocols and the Tampa Bay Lightning simply couldn't keep the puck out of the net.
It's not uncommon to head into the weekend in your weekly matchup just trailing in a few of the goalie categories. Picking up a goalie is a must for many fantasy general managers hoping to chase down categories like wins, saves, and save percentage.
It's becoming more and more difficult to hold onto Spencer Knight. The Florida Panthers goalie simply isn't playing much and when he has received opportunities, he hasn't delivered.

I mentioned last week Pavel Francouz was worth taking a gamble on for the Colorado Avalanche as he works his way back from injury, and if you added him, he could suddenly have increased value. Depending on the severity of Darcy Kuemper's injury and given the struggles of third stringer Jonas Johansson, Francouz could potentially be in for a run of starts if he can stay healthy.
It's not uncommon to head into the weekend in your weekly matchup just trailing in a few of the goalie categories. Picking up a goalie is a must for many fantasy general managers hoping to chase down categories like wins, saves, and save percentage.
Tristan Jarry is slowly but surely becoming and elite fantasy netminder. It's remarkable he's been able to put up the numbers he has with all the injuries the Pittsburgh Penguins have dealt with and he was overlooked in many drafts because of the tough playoffs he had last year.
It's not uncommon to head into the weekend in your weekly matchup just trailing in a few of the goalie categories. Picking up a goalie is a must for many fantasy general managers hoping to chase down categories like wins, saves, and save percentage.
The Ottawa Senators saw three games postponed this week due to Covid, reminding everyone that even though the league is almost 100% vaccinated, the pandemic can still play havoc with the schedule this year. Perhaps more impactful in the fantasy hockey world than the lost games for the Senators, were their opponents having to reschedule a game.

The Washington Capitals goaltending situation took quite a turn last week, with Zach Fucale making his NHL debut and delivering shutout. The question is, what does this mean for the Capitals in net going forward? Ilya Samsonov and Vitek Vanecek have been very underwhelming this year and it was telling when the Caps opted to give Fucale his first start over a healthy Samsonov.
It's not uncommon to head into the weekend in your weekly matchup just trailing in a few of the goalie categories. Picking up a goalie is a must for many fantasy general managers hoping to chase down categories like wins, saves, and save percentage.
Carey Price will be re-joining the Montreal Canadiens next week, but it will likely still be some time before the veteran goaltender is ready to hit the ice for game action. First and foremost, hopefully Price is doing well and healthy, and it will be great to see one of the league's top goaltenders back in action again, whenever that may be.

Jacob Markstrom is off to an incredible start for the Calgary Flames, stopping 126 of the last 127 shots he's faced to bring his save percentage for the season up to . 957.

Everyone is always looking for an advantage against the rest of the teams in their fantasy hockey league and when it comes to goalies, sometimes that means thinking outside the box. Whether it's drafting a sleeper in the later rounds or finding a gem on the waiver wire, getting major production from a goalie that wasn't on anyone's radar going into a season can sometimes push you over the top and help you win your league.
With teams in the National Hockey League gravitating more and more to a tandem system when it comes to their goalies, it provides fantasy hockey general managers with a lot to think about when drafting. Whether it's trying to decipher who the 1A is and who the 1B is in a tandem so you'll know who should get the edge in starts, or forecasting if a backup has the skills to play well enough to create a tandem situation, understanding how teams deploy their goalies can give you a big edge.
No matter how much research you do leading up to your fantasy hockey draft, it's impossible to accurately predict how all of your picks will pan out. In fact, there's significant risk with a large majority of players taken and that's never truer than when it comes to goalies.
With fantasy hockey drafts quickly approaching, developing a plan on where to draft your goalies can give you a big advantage over your competition. You can target a couple of top tier goalies early on to really solidify that spot on your roster, but that's not necessarily always the best choice.
One thing to keep an eye on in your drafts are goalies slipping down the board because of issues from the previous season. Whether it's an injury, poor play or an offseason move, there's a number of reasons a goalie could fall.
The most crowded crease heading into the 2021-22 campaign belongs to the Dallas Stars. With four goalies possibly in play as far as fantasy value goes, it's going to make drafting the right guy fairly challenging.
Alex Nedeljkovic wasn't on anyone's fantasy hockey radar during draft season a year ago, but the goaltender quickly became arguably the best waiver wire pickup of the season. Nedeljkovic went 15-5-3 with a .
There was a ton of goalie movement over the past couple of weeks, changing the outlook in the crease for a number of organizations heading into next season. Whether it was buyouts, trades or free agent signings, let's take a look at how all the moves impacted every team in the fantasy hockey world.
It's been a few days since the Carolina Hurricanes traded Alex Nedeljkovic to the Detroit Red Wings, and it still doesn\'t make much sense. The Canes potentially gave up their goalie of the future for a third-round pick and the rights to pending UFA Jonathan Bernier.
The Seattle Kraken drafted three goaltenders in the expansion draft, creating a ripple effect that will change the crease of a few organizations heading into next season. Let's look at the fantasy fallout and how it may impact those teams and ultimately who you may want to target in drafts next season.
The Stanley Cup has been handed out and now it's time to start planning for next season. It's going to be a busy summer with the draft, free agency, trades, playoff fallout, and the expansion draft all coming into play.
The fantasy hockey playoffs are well in the rear-view mirror at this point, but it's never too early to start planning for next season. It's going to be a busy summer with the draft, free agency, trades, playoff fallout, and the expansion draft all coming into play.
Andrei Vasilevskiy's last two starts of the regular season against the Florida Panthers did not look very Andrei Vasilevskiy-like. The Tampa Bay Lightning netminder gave up nine goals to the Panthers over the two losses, including a five spot for the first time all year.
Tough break if you were counting on Ilya Samsonov during championship week. The Washington Capitals goaltender hasn't played since May 1 for a violation of team rules and because of it, he and teammate Evgeny Kuznetsov are now on the Covid list.
It's not uncommon to head into the weekend in your weekly matchup just trailing in a few of the goalie categories. Picking up a goalie is a must for many fantasy general managers hoping to chase down categories like wins, saves, and save percentage.
Connor Hellebuyck did not pick the best time to go into a funk, as fantasy hockey playoffs are in full swing. Hellebuyck has been uncharacteristically inconsistent over the past couple of weeks, sporting an .

The Detroit Red Wings haven't been a spot in recent years to find quality goaltending, but things are suddenly changing. Both Jonathan Bernier and Thomas Greiss could be valuable commodities for your fantasy hockey playoffs if they keep up their recent play.

The Tristan Jarry injury was a tough one at this time of the year, but if you grabbed Casey DeSmith as a replacement you are probably in pretty good shape. The Pittsburgh Penguins backup has been stellar since Jarry went down and even for quite a length of time before that.

Things aren't looking too good for Kaapo Kahkonen owners right now. Since Cam Talbot's return from the Covid list the Minnesota Wild have played 16 games, with Talbot getting 10 of those starts.

Good evening readers, @kingtuna4 here with this week's goalie ramblings. Let's get right into it, After a great week for Thatcher Demko and the Vancouver Canucks, it looks as though Demko has taken over the starting role.
Good day fantasy hockey readers, @kingtuna4 here with this week's goalie ramblings. This week I was thinking about back up goalies when I was able to witness Michael Hutchinson get a win for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Good day fantasy hockey readers, @kingtuna4 here with this week\'s goalie ramblings. Before I get started I would like to congratulate Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Every weekend when we open up Twitter for questions the most common response is always the same: What's wrong with Sergei Bobrovsky? The Panthers netminder hasn't been anywhere close to expectations since arriving in Florida, but this week there was some flashes of the goalie that has claimed a pair of Vezina Trophies. Bobrovsky posted a pair of solid outings, including one where he outdueled Andrei Vasilevskiy of the Stanley Cup Champion Tampa Bay Lightning.
Much like the NFL, NBA, and MLB, it didn't take long for COVID to wreak havoc on this NHL season. Several games have already been postponed and there will surely be more to come.
The season is only a few days old and it's certainly too early to overreact to a small sample size, but with only 56-games this year, expect coaches not to hesitate to make a change between the pipes if their starter is struggling. These might not be goalies you'll want to keep on your roster all season, but that doesn't mean you can't temporarily capitalize on some extra playing time for goalies sitting on the waiver wire.
Many feel the Colorado Avalanche have all the pieces in place to make a run at the Stanley Cup, but they could use an upgrade in goal. In actuality, Colorado's netminders, although somewhat inexperienced, were a major strength for the team last season.
The Toronto Maple Leafs finally landed a capable backup goalie in a trade last season, but the pandemic stopped the league before we could really see what Jack Campbell was capable of. Campbell played in just six games for the Leafs before the shutdown, though a .
The Seattle Kraken still have another year to wait before they join the NHL, but the rest of the league needs to start thinking about who they will protect in the expansion draft. Other than the Vegas Golden Knights, who will be exempt from the draft because of their recent entry into the league, every team will have to expose players for the Kraken to build their initial squad with.
Remember when you could draft someone like Martin Brodeur and just pencil him in for 70 starts? It was certainly a simpler time for fantasy hockey, although those days don't appear to be returning anytime soon. Sure, you still get the odd goalie that's good for 60 games or so, but more and more teams are now running with a tandem duo between the pipes.
The goalie carousel has finally stopped spinning and a number of netminders have found a new home for the 2020-21 campaign. Some goaltenders improved their value, while others are going to be trending in the wrong direction with their new teams.
If debuting new jerseys and letting Alex Trebek make their third overall pick wasn't exciting enough, the Ottawa Senators also made a big splash on day two of the NHL draft. Ottawa acquired goaltender Matt Murray from the Pittsburgh Penguins, filling a need between the pipes for a team that desperately required some stability in goal.
Henrik Lundqvist's time in the Big Apple has come to an end. After 15 seasons with the New York Rangers, the team bought out Lundqvist to save some cap space and make way for Igor Shesterkin and Alexandar Georgiev.
Connor Hellebuyck took home the Vezina Trophy this week as the league's top goaltender for 2019-20, but Andrei Vasilevskiy is leaving little doubt as to who the best in the world is during these playoffs. Even though Hellebuyck may have the hardware, Vasilevskiy is proving he should be the first goalie off your board in next year's fantasy drafts.
With the New York Islanders bowing out of the Stanley Cup playoffs after an impressive run, the team will no doubt look to make some changes to improve their chances at winning it all next year. While the majority of the tinkering will come at forward and with the defense corps, New York's netminders will also look different in 2020-21.
Anton Khudobin probably should have fallen apart by now, but instead he just seems to be getting stronger as these playoffs move along. Forced into action because of an injury to Ben Bishop, the Dallas Stars netminder has backstopped his squad to the conference finals and is now just two wins away from competing for the Stanley Cup.
When most people hear the name Jim Carrey they think of Ace Ventura or The Truman Show, but there's another Jim Carey, with one R, that hockey fans may remember. Carey exploded onto the scene for the Washington Capitals in the mid-90s, playing 71 games in 1995-96 and capturing the Vezina Trophy.
Good day fantasy hockey land @KINGTUNA4 here with this week\'s goalie ramblings. I am currently on my family vacation at Disney World so I thought I would take a look at the goalies here in Florida.
Good morning readers, an excited @KINGTUNA4 here with this week\'s goalie ramblings. Before we jump into that, congratulations goes out to my San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs.
Good day fantasy hockey readers, @KINGTUNA4 here with this week\'s goalie ramblings. I am going to take a look at a couple of good performances from the past week and I will have a look at a couple of terrible performances.
Good evening and hello! A very tired @KINGTUNA4 here with this weeks goalie ramblings. I'm going to discuss waiver wire pickups, a couple of hot goalies, and this weeks schedule.
Good morning fantasy hockey readers and a happy Thanksgiving to all my friends here in Canada. I\'m a little late writing this as yesterday was a very good sports day and I was up late watching the end of the Baseball game.
Happy Monday y\'all! If you are still in your fantasy hockey playoffs, congrats and good luck the rest of the way! *** Taking a look at the upcoming week, the Buffalo Sabres has FIVE games! If you are looking for extra streaming options, they are your team to look at. They have two back-to-backs and with them out of the playoff hunt, look for them to spread the games out evenly.
Happy Monday y\'all! We are in crunch time for fantasy leagues. If your playoffs started last week, hopefully you advanced and if they don\'t start till this week, good luck! Let us know how your team has fared this season in the comments on Twitter.
Happy Trade Deadline Day! Hope y\'all had fun watching/listening today and hopefully your team made a move you are excited about. Goalie trades are usually rare on this day, but we did have a little action.
Happy Monday y\'all! We had a relatively quiet week on the goalie front, which isn\'t always a bad thing as we hit the stretch run. Let\'s dive right in.
Good morning everyone and a big welcome back to all the teams after their bye weeks. I am sure glad hockey is back and that we had a full slate of games this weekend.
Happy Monday y\'all! The biggest reason I don\'t like the All-Star Game is because it shortens the week of actual games. With some teams on their bye week as well, we only had a total number of 15 games to cover.
Happy Monday y\'all! We are halfway through the 2018-19 season (where has it gone?!) and we\'ve had some big headlines in the goalie world. Smaller pads have led to more goal scoring, but the athletic goalies have risen to the top; think of some of the saves Andrei Vasilevskiy and John Gibson have made this season.
Happy New Year everyone! I hope y\'all have a safe and fun evening that leads to a great 2019! Sorry this is up a little late, once again I am on vacation and this time I am up north! The wife and I went up to Buffalo, are currently in Toronto, and will finish up in Montreal at the end of the week. If you have any suggestions, make sure to find me on Twitter, @LAM1926, as this is our first time out here.
Hey everyone, it\'s the most wonderful time of the year! The holidays are here and the World Juniors are upon us. There is a ton of hockey to watch and we start seeing some trades as teams either put up or shut up for the rest of the season.
Shoutout to @KINGTUNA4 for a great ramblings last week. Hope y\'all enjoy this one! *** We had some old school hockey on Saturday night with Tuukka Rask wanting to fight Jimmy Howard at center ice during the Bruins/Red Wings melee.
I know it\'s not May the 5th, but it is November 5th and we had some big goalies returning to action. Cory Schneider\'s first start came against Detroit and he stopped 27 of 30 shots in a 4-3 loss.
So this week I thought I would try something different with the goalie ramblings. I'm trying to engage with the readers a little more to create some fun within goalie post.
Happy Monday y'all! Jaro Halak has started two straight for the Bs but he hasn't looked great. While Tuukka RaskThas not given them a great shot to win when he starts, like I said a couple of weeks ago, Rask always starts the season slow so keep chipping away at owners in your leagues that are looking to get rid of him.
To almost quote Jay Z. Goals, goals, goals, goals, goals I do adore said no goalie ever! It's the start of the season and for most that means lots of goals.
Happy hockey season! Even though the Cup was awarded in June, it feels like hockey was gone for years. *** With the league officially starting last week, teams had to trim their rosters down to 23 skaters and there were some interesting players placed on waivers.
Hi everyone! My name is Lucas Main (Twitter @LAM1926) and along with my buddy Aaron, we\'ll be bringing the ramblings every Monday. Hope you enjoy! With training camps a little over a week in, there are some fierce competitions going on for the back up spot on a number of teams and some squads are set in stone (barring injuries) so I\'ll touch on the teams that have question marks: BUF: Hutton, Ullmark, Wedgewood Hutton is the number one to start the season because of the three year contract GM Botterill handed him this past summer, but after that it comes down to Linus Ullmark and Scott Wedgewood.
by Ryan Hoddick Being from a fantasy hockey league that sees twenty starting goaltenders drafted in the first couple of rounds, I've been forced to learn the value of every backup and backup's backup as well as when to snag them. Here's a look into some of the top backup goalie grabs of the season, when you could\'ve found them, and how to find guys like it in the future.
By: Jimmer Lowe Rebuilding in Fantasy Hockey can be a fickle thing. A long and arduous process that can become a lot less exciting when you aren\'t getting NHL Exec money to tank.
By Kevin Wickersham Useful goaltenders are often a rare fantasy commodity. With the mercurial nature of the job, even the best sometimes just lose it and for whatever reason can no longer produce at a high level.
Goalie Trends and Prospects – Arizona Antti Raanta and Scott Wedgewood In the process of a rebuild, Arizona traded for Rangers back up Antti Raanta last summer. A former Stanley Cup winner, Raanta brings good experience to a young Arizona squad.
Hi everyone, my name is Lucas Main and I write for Dobber Prospects following the Anaheim Ducks. This will be my first column for Goalie Post and I will take a look into all 31 teams' current trends and their future prospects.
An Early Look at Goalie Performances in the West By Kevin Wickersham We\'re a little over a month into the campaign so let\'s take a look at how the West\'s goalies have performed thus far. Much is prone to change, but from a fantasy perspective (obviously dependent on your league\'s settings) consider this a loose ranking of early returns that could flip wildly in the upcoming week or two.

Welcome all to the 2017-18 season, As our first post of the new season, we will provide you with a look at goaltending preview around the league. Let\'s get started! Anaheim – As expected John Gibson will be the starter, with vet Ryan Miller backing up.
Goalie Post is back in advance of the 2017-18 season! Over the next few weeks we'll be getting things updated here. I know some of you are wondering about Dobber's top 100 goalie rankings - we have a tentative publishing date of mid-October for them, which should work with his current health situation.
By Jake Schenkman Just a few thoughts of mine on some goalies this season: I like what Carolina has done as a team the past year but I don't understand the logic in going back to the combo of Ward/Lack this year after what they saw last year. I get bringing Lack back for this year but with Ward becoming a UFA after last year, and seeing where he's been the past few years, how do you sign him at $3.
By Brian Lemenager (@WeakGloveSide) With the season winding down, I thought it'd be appropriate to provide some guidance for keeper leagues on who I think the top goalies are going into next season. I've broken them out into a few categories.
By Brian Lemenager (@WeakGloveSide) Last week, I gave you a group of teams that may look like good matchups for your goalie, but when looking at their shot and chance generation, they may be fairly risky. This week, the plan was to provide a group of teams that, based on their record, are thought of as good teams but present an opportunity for a quality start.
By Brian Lemenager (@WeakGloveSide) Teams to Avoid The playoffs are here for standard 12 man Yahoo! Leagues, so matchups matter now more than ever. I tweet out what matchups I like daily from @WeakGloveSide, and if you follow you probably notice the trends of teams I like to start against and ones I avoid.
By Brian Lemenager (@WeakGloveSide) The trade Deadline is one of the biggest days in the NHL as it gives teams one last opportunity to bolster their rosters for a playoff push. While this year's deadline was a bit quieter than past years, a number of teams made significant additions to their team that should impact how you view them when choosing matchups for goalies.
By Brian Lemenager Playoffs are only two weeks away for standard Yahoo leagues and getting hot at the right time is just as important in fantasy as it is in the NHL. So for those looking to make a push for that playoff spot I\'ve organized the top goalies by Yahoo season long ranking and provided their stats over the month of February to give you an idea of who to utilize for your late season push.

By Brian Lemenager (@WeakGloveSide) A few weeks ago I wrote an article about Quality Starts by goalies and argued that some goalies may just be suffering from bad teams in front of them. After looking at home and away save percentages last week I wanted to return to that idea and present a different statistic that measured the topic in a similar manner.
By Brian Lemenager (@WeakGloveSide) In sports, the common thought is teams perform better when playing in their own stadium. Whether it's due to familiarity, the fan support or the comfort of a certain routine I think most can agree it generally holds true.
By Teri Chazau (@terichazau) With the advanced stats community continuing to grow and gain influence, it is important now more than ever to understand how these statistics play off of each other. Even when stats seem to stack in a certain team's favor, you have to understand how in practice things might not play out as such.
By Brian Lemenager (@WeakGloveSide) Last week, I tweeted what I thought was an interesting stat from @WeakGloveSide about the Devils and Cory Schneider. Up to the All Star Break, when Schneider was starting and the Devils scored more than one goal they were 22-1-3.
By Jason Banks So lots to discuss since we are past the All-Star showcase, let's dive into one of two non-recognized holidays for hockey fans, The Deadline. All year there are lots of rumors of goalies losing jobs and needing to move, but very few places to go.
By Teri Chazau (@terichazau) Since the NHL began tracking advanced stats, the Los Angeles Kings have put on a clinic in dominating the charts. Three of the past four seasons, including the current one, the Kings have ranked first in the league in possession numbers.
By Brian Lemenager (@WeakGloveSide) The All-Star game limited the games on the NHL slate this week but I wanted to provide a simple breakdown of the remainder of the season. This article will be more useful for those in points only leagues where number of starts matter more, but it also could be valuable to those looking to make some moves before the deadline in their respective league.
By Teri Chazau (@terichazau) To supplement last week's team defense article, this week we will look at what teams sport the most dangerous offenses in the league from a daily fantasy standpoint by looking at how many shots they take for each goal they score. The teams at the top should be avoided in matchups as they leave goaltenders little opportunity to compensate for the points lost for goals against.
By Brian Lemenager (@WeakGloveSide) Last week, @terichazau introduced the idea that when looking at the ratio of shots against per goals against, we can determine the quality of shots a team surrenders. The higher average number of shots to goals, the lower quality of chances.
By Teri Chazau (@terichazau) It seems like every week I find a way to mention how team defense is just as if not more important than goalies themselves when picking netminders for both daily and season long fantasy play. This week, I will rank each team based on a simplification of their team defense.
By Teri Chazau (@Terichazau) When it comes to a goalie in fantasy hockey, the team around him often can be more important than the goaltender himself. In this article, I'm going to look at teams whose goaltenders could benefit from improved play in the second half of the season, as well as those you should expect to regress.
By Teri Chazau (@terichazau) In any kind of fantasy matchup, the difference between a win and a loss can come down to a single shot or a single block. With such a small margin for error, it is critical that you take advantage of all the information available to you on any given night.
By Brian Lemenager (@WeakGloveSide) Given @terichazau recent introduction of some advanced statistics used to evaluate both individual players and teams, I figured it best to give some context to those statistics. I'll start with PDO.
By Teri Chazau (@terichazau) After covering the basics of possession numbers in last week's article, it's time to delve deeper into the world of advanced statistics. Too often I see supposed authorities of sports writing stipulating about the implications of certain stats only to recognize that they really don't know what they're talking about.
By Teri Chazau (@terichazau) With advanced statistics continuing to grow in popularity, they have managed to creep onto the fantasy scene as well. Consequently, I wanted to educate our audience with a little introduction to advanced statistics, also known as possession statistics, so that you may apply them when considering players of any position for your roster.
By Brian Lemenager (@WeakGloveSide) This week I look at how goalies have been playing the past month. We\'re moving into the heart of the NHL season and teams should be settling in to who they are and forming their identity.
By Teri Chazau (@terichazau) It seems crazy to think that mere decades ago the butterfly was not a technique. It took a series of events, beginning with the introduction of the goalie mask and culminating in the likes of Vladislav Tretiak and Patrick Roy, to cement the butterfly as a legitimate style of goaltending.
By Brian Lemenager (@WeakGloveSide) Drafting the best players is important in every fantasy league. However, exploiting matchups allows owners to squeeze the best out of their rosters and maximize success over the course of the season.
By Teri Chazau (@terichazau) It's obvious at this point how the NHL views its profits more goals = more fans = more money. Changes dating back to the 2004-05 lockout have largely entailed an eye for more scoring.
By Brian Lemenager (@WeakGloveSide) 3: Garret Sparks & his pads Sparks posted a shutout in his first career NHL start and did so in style rocking some of the best pads I've seen to date. He stumbled in his second start against Winnipeg surrendering 6 goals but he was able to rebound against the Blues, stopping 27 of 28 shots and winning his second game in three starts.
By Teri Chazau (@terichazau) #1 Michael Neuvirth (PHI) five wins, . 939 save %, 3 shutouts The Flyers have been a slow starting team in recent years but always seem to turn on the jets as the season wears on, soyou can expect some offensive support to Neuvirth's stellar numbers thus far.
Just a few ramblings and notes from around the league: We will start off in Calgary where they are a mess in net. Hiller is gone for at least another few days and Ramo has called up from the dead and started the last two games where he's given up 4 and 5 goals, respectively.

By Jason Banks We are nearing the all-star break, leading into deadline transactions and we are starting to see interesting situations develop. Ryan Miller is trucking along, at an elite pace since late-December.
By Jason Banks Welcome back all to a new year and a time to heat up down the stretch before the trade deadline! We have to start with Semyon Varlamov after his huge 54 save shutout vs Chicago last night. As impressive as he was last season with 41 wins, last season he only compiled a pair of shutouts, while last night\'s blanking was his third in only 21 games.
By Jake Schenkman Here's a few updates on happenings around the league: Brian Elliott will be back in the crease tonight after Brodeur got a shutout last night. Hitchcock hinted that they'll be carrying 3 goalies for now but it seems like Brodeur will be gone sooner rather than later, and I just don't see another team taking him unless they're desperate.
By Jake Schenkman Just some quick notes on some goalie injuries and some possible extra starts. Doesn't seem like Bishop's injury is long term as the coach has said there's a shot he'll be back Tuesday.
By Jason Banks Happy Wednesday all, Shall we start on Pekka Rinne? How has this guy been?! Many were selling due to his hip issues which usually sound like a career killer, but if you were lucky enough to be at the last DobberHockey event, you would have known better and attempted to buy low. Justin Goldman explained the hip issue Rinne had been suffering and discussed how the procedure would actually make him more flexible and stronger in net.
By Jason Banks Happy December everyone, By now we are all into the eighth week of fantasy and it is time to start solving major team problems, there have been several moves in the past few days that could throw Band-Aids on your goaltending problems or create some. Up there with Josh Harding breaking his foot kicking a wall, Corey Crawford hurts his foot stumbling leaving a Rise Against concert.
By Jake Schenkman So Fleury becomes the third youngest goalie to get to 300 wins. I can't see I saw that coming but good for him as this is a big accomplishment and he's having a fantastic year.
By Jake Schenkman Reminder that the Sabres-Rangers game that was scheduled for tonight has been postponed due to the storm in Buffalo. As of now, there has been no make up date announced.
Cam Talbot had 30 saves in a shutout win for the Rangers against Steve Mason and the Flyers. Mason could not be faulted at all in this one and actually kept it close for the most part.
By Jake Schenkman Talk about making your NHL debut in style. Troy Grosenick had a 45 save shutout in his NHL debut against Khudobin and the Hurricanes.
By Jake Schenkman - Rask brought the Bruins back in the win column with 33 saves over the Canes. Ward had a decent game, and while Khudobin will start today, Ward will be right back in next game.
We start off with the Varlamov and the Avs beating Lundqvist and the Rangers. I am kind of surprised with this as I thought the Rangers were turning it around and Lundqvist had his A game going but Varlamov was great in this one and pretty much stole the two points for the Avs.

By Jake Schenkman The Devils were led back in the win column by Schneider last night. After a couple bad games, he made at least four spectacular saves last night with helped them beat the Wild.
By Jake Schenkman Rask and the Bruins scored two late goals on Schneider in the second period to win this one. Schneider admittedly wasn't happy with his performance and there's a chance we see Kinkaid start tonight.
I posted this on Puck Daddy earlier today, but here is a snippet relative to goaltenders. Specifically - the struggling ones Cam Ward, John Gibson, Steve Mason and Semyon Varlamov.
by Justin Goldman It has been a really fun start to the season when it comes to scouting backups and prospects. With 49 goalies appearing in games so far (you could say that's 19 backups), minutes have been really spread out in Week 1.
by Dobber For our new feature on Goalie Post, we've taken a page from DobberHockey and created a Ramblings. I'll weigh in with my thoughts, but you can also expect content from goalie expert Justin Goldman, as well as Goalie Post manager Jake (known as "smack" in the Forum).
