Capitals goalie Brent Johnson has been having issues with is hip for the past while. It was decided yesterday that he would have the surgery to repair a labrum tear in his hip (hip joint cartilage).

He will be out for and extended amount of time, however it might not be the entire season.

Michal Neuvirth and Simeon Varlamov will be the backups for the rest of this season. Varlamov has a minor weak knee, but it's nothing serious and should be on the ice soon. (Capitals Insider)
