Labarbera Opening Season

Jason Labarbera very well could be a deer caught in headlights. His 4.20 GAA and .841 save percentage in two pre-season games doesn't shout confidence. We do have to remember Labarbera had seven months off after hernia surgery last season.

Kings head coach Terry Murray has designated Jason Labarbera as this seasons opening starting goalie. Jonathan Bernier, age 20, is not quite ready for the big leagues and was sent to the minors. His wait could be short if the Kings flop out of the gates.

"I hope (Jason Labarbera) grabs that ball and runs with it." Murray said. He also noted his plans for the Kings backup goalie to playing 25 to 30 games. Of course this changes when your not sure who your goalies are.
