Patrick Lalime signed a two-year $2-million dollar contract with the Buffalo Sabres after a pretty good season with Chicago. The Ottawa Senators were also interested in Lalime, however they opted for Alex Auld.

Lalime is a nine season NHL veteran with a winning record of 191-148-32-11 and 35 shutouts. Part of the talks were that Lalime would have his fair share of playing time, so expect Miller to start much less than the 75 games he did last season.

Jocelyn Thibault will not return and the Sabres have begun talks with Ryan Miller on a long-term deal that will avoid the free agent mess next off-season.
