Olaf Kolzig, who made it clear he wasn't staying in Washington, signed a one-year deal with the Tampa Bay Lightning. The deal is worth $1.5-million, however has incentives that could add another million.
Kolzig has had a very good and long injury-free career, however at 38 he is getting up there in age. Last season he injured his knee (medial collateral ligament) and missed almost an entire month, the longest injury he's ever had.
Anything can happen in TB this season from a slated rotation, long term injury, or pure competition with the better goalie playing. Don't forget the highly touted Karri Ramo is still in the mix as well. It would be wise to avoid drafting high with this situation in Tampa.
